From Chaos to Collaboration:
Raising the Bar in Public Engagement
November 5, 2010 (9am to 5pm) at St. Edward's University
Join public sector representatives, interested citizens, and public engagement practitioners in this one-day workshop to explore practical strategies for successful public engagement.
- Attendees will gain greater knowledge of the principles and strategies that foster respect, trust, and the ability to effectively grapple with tough community choices.
- Interactive sessions will integrate real-world examples from our region and explore lessons learned.
- Sharing of resources and tools will give attendees new approaches they can apply immediately.
Topics will include:
- Quality Public Engagement: What does it really take, from design to implementation?
- Online Tools: What new tools are available and how do they support effective engagement?
- Collaborations that Work: How can we strengthen connections between public administrators, engagement practitioners and the public?
Registration is $85 ($70 for dues-paying NCDD members and $42 for students). Registration fee includes lunch, resource lists on the three topics listed above, and attendee list.

The local hosts for this National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD) regional event are St. Edward's University New College (www.stedwards.edu/newc/) and the Central Texas NCDD Network. St. Edward's University is a private, liberal arts university founded by the Brothers of Holy Cross. Cancellation policy: Registration cancellations must be received by NCDD via email at least two weeks before the event. Cancellations made two weeks (or more) before the event will result in a full refund less a $20 processing fee per attendee. Cancellations made within two weeks of the event will not be refunded, though substitutions can be made any time. Notify NCDD Office Manager Joy Garman at joy@thataway.org of cancellations or name changes. Refunds will be processed in late November or early December, after all 5 regional events have been held.

NCDD was formed in 2002 in response to a growing need for learning and collaboration among those who do dialogue, deliberation, conflict resolution and public engagement work in a variety of disciplines.
